Student thwarts face detection software with 'CV Dazzle' makeup -- Engadget

Like WWII ships, students at NYU discovered that facial recognition software can be defeated by make-up, by changing the parts of the face that are highlighted. 

In a surveillance society, small private acts like this might become de riguer. 

Other applications, like hoodies and glasses that contain bright LEDs to blind CCTV cameras, seem increasingly more likely.
